Founded in 2001 in Monthey, Switzerland, ExcellGene is a family-owned pioneer in cell line development and cell culture-based manufacturing for high-performance production of recombinant proteins and other advanced therapeutics. Founded by scientists, the company was built on decades of expertise in gene transfer, CHO and HEK cell line engineering, and bioreactor scale-up. In 2014, the family launched Magellan Biologics & Consulting in Portugal to develop innovative solutions for high-throughput cell culture processing, transfection products, and high-performance cell culture media, further improving the manufacturability of promising biologic therapeutics and vaccines.
